Wife, working mother - Turned Publisher/Author/Advocate!
I am so excited you are here and joining me in this new venture and life-long dream of becoming a children's book author! My hope is that by sharing how I came to this point in my life, you will find connection to your own journey.
I am a wife, mother, community non-profit co-founder (The Outcome), and now...CHILDREN'S BOOK AUTHOR / YOUTH-ADULT ADVOCATE! In addition to authoring my books, and with the support of my partnering illustrator extraordinaire I will also be assisting authors with publishing and marketing their works! I like to be busy, I like to give back, I like to inspire others...and that is exactly what I hope to do through 3Kiddos Publishing, LLC!

The ultimate goal of all children's literature should be to entertain...that's what brings kids in and catches their attention! Through an entertaining plot, I also hope to pass along a message of encouragement, understanding and opportunity for "teachable moments" between the child and the adult reader. Allowing space for children to explore all aspects of the page (from story to detailed illustration), ask questions and engage with their adult reader is my goal and hope!
In all stories, my mission is to engage the adult reader as much as the kiddo. The books I enjoy reading with my own children always have some type of underlying theme that also engages me. I hope that adults keep coming back to the stories I write when reading to their children or students because they also find enjoyment and lessons in them.
Children need ADVOCATES in this world, hands down this is a fact! In the same way adult mentors/parents also need advocates and support for their experiences. Children need ADVOCATES in this world, hands down this is a fact! In the same way adult mentors/parents also need advocates and support for their experiences. As a parent of one very emotional child, one child with genetic differences and one child that keeps us guessing every minute of the day, I want my writing (children's books, blogs, and social posts) to demonstrate my appreciation for and understanding of adult challenges when working with children from all walks of life. I want to build a community of positive individuals that share a desire to connect, gain encouragement and show grace to adults and children from all walks of life.
I am a small town girl, raised in the panhandle of Texas in a tiny town called Lockney. You likely haven't heard of it, but for me, Lockney is home! It is the town that grew my love for community and family; the place that shaped my faith in the Heavenly Father and inspired my passion for helping others. It was also in Lockney that I met the love of my life, and although we didn't marry until long past high school, we have grown up with each other since 2nd grade.
This upbringing may make me seem "small town", but in my own way I did take a time to spread my wings and try out the "big city" life...and when I say big city I mean Lubbock, Texas. I attended college at Texas Tech University (Go Red Raiders!) and earned a dual bachelors degree in public relations and communication studies, with a teaching certification in secondary speech education. I thought I would be a speech teacher, and help students gain an appreciation and skill for public speaking, however God had other plans. An opportunity opened up at TTU with the Center for Adolescent Resiliency, where I eventually advanced to the role of assistant director for an afterschool youth leadership development program. In this role I grew...I GREW in so many rich and wonderful ways! I learned from my mentors and students, I gained knowledge and experience, I increased my love for writing and the power of words through writing leadership curriculum. Most of all I solidified my PASSION for helping youth and their adult support systems. In the five years I spent with my TTU team I earned my masters of science degree in Family and Consumer Sciences Education with a specialty in youth development. I loved every minute of my time with this program and in many ways still wish I was there today, however...
In 2017 my husband and I had a desire to return to small town life and start our family. We never wanted our children to grow up in a metroplex. Therefore, we went back to our roots and I began working with my family business in the trucking industry...big change I know, but when your family asks for help the only reply is YES! God quickly blessed us with the surprise of our lives a very short few months after making this big change when we discovered we were expecting...TWINS! Insert sweating face emoji here! Needless to say, life changed drastically! Fast forward through 15 months of a blur with our newborn twin girls and God surprised us again with another pregnancy and the birth of our son. Growing a family so quickly is HARD and WONDERFUL. I needed these years; I needed the help of my family while I learned how to be a working mother. I changed so much during this time and grew in my perspective of motherhood and parenting. I am not perfect in no way, shape or form, but I TRY each and every day to be BETTER for my family and myself.
I recently felt a strong pull and desire to do MORE and to lean into my love for writing and supporting youth and their adult advocates! After so many beautiful moments and so many challenges, I decided the book I had been writing in my head (on that obscure invisible shelf!) since becoming a mother needed to be explored and shared. And so, it is now that I begin this very scary journey of sharing my thoughts, heart, soul, and experiences with the world, in the hopes that it will resonate with someone and bring joy, entertainment, grace and understanding to their reality! I am ready for this journey and I am so glad you are here and may be joining me along the way!
My husband, Jon, and I have been blessed so greatly! With twin daughters, Aspen and Aubrey, and son, Thomas, our family of 5 is complete (and a little chaotic)! I work each and every day for them and hope they will find joy and pride in my work for the rest of their lives!
I have always had a passion for educating children. I feel it is our responsibility to build up the most vulnerable of our society through mental and emotional enrichment.
I pray that through connecting with parents and educators I can add a little joy, support and grace to positively impact the lives of children and the adults growing alongside them.
